Honda’s Mean Mower
Honda recently joined the Guinness Book of World Records with their Mean Mower! This mower currently holds the record for fastest lawn mower.
On March 8, 2014, Honda met with Guinness Book Representatives in Tarragona, Spain to shatter the previous record of 87 miles per hour. The result was pretty amazing. The Mean Mower, driven by Piers Ward of BBC’s Top Gear Magazine, averaged 116 miles per hour, and hit a top speed of 130 miles per hour.

The Mean Mower was designed and built in the UK as a collaboration between Honda and Team Dynamics as a way to demonstrate Honda’s innovative spirit, along with celebrate their motor sport heritage.
Honda’s Innovative Engineering
The team re-engineered a Honda HF2620 Lawn Mower from the ground up, to include a light-weight high carbon steel chassis, 1000cc engine (taken from a Honda VTR Firestorm), and suspension and wheels from a Honda ATV. The mower deck was constructed from fiberglass in order to reduce the overall weight of the mower, while the fuel tank (among other elements) can be found in the mower’s grass bag. The Mean Mower ended up weighing in at a mere 308 pounds, compared to the original HF2620, weighing 560 pounds.
The Mean Mower can even cut grass! Two electric motors located on the mower deck spin a 3mm steel cable at an incredible 4000 rpm’s to cut grass at speeds up to 15 miles per hour.
